During an appointment, a healthcare professional assesses whether the minor can act on their own behalf or whether a guardian’s presence is needed.
A healthcare professional will assess and register the minor’s decision-making capacity in matters related to the care at each appointment. The professional’s assessment is impacted by the minor’s age, development and the matter being treated. The assessment may change between appointments.
If a healthcare professional has assessed that the minor is able to make decisions for themselves, the care will happen in cooperation with the minor. At the appointment, the professional will ask the minor if their guardian is allowed to see information related to the visit or treatment period. The minor can then decide whether the guardian is allowed to see the information or not.
If the healthcare professional assesses that the minor is not able to make decisions for themselves, the treatment information will be visible to the guardian even if the minor prohibits it. In this case, the treatment must happen in collaboration with the guardian.
A minor’s information will be visible in MyKanta if

Minors can book appointments for themselves by calling our customer service at 010 312 010 or online.
Online booking requires online banking codes or a mobile ID certificate. If the minor does not want their guardian to find out about the appointment, they have to make an appointment by calling Pihlajalinna and let us know that they do not want their guardian to find out about the appointment.
Appointments and tests must be paid with a debit card in connection with the appointment. Otherwise, an invoice will be sent to the guardian.
The invoice for remote appointments (video/phone) will be sent to the guardian. The exception is a minor who has been assessed to have decision-making capacity and who has denied their information from being disclosed to their guardian. In this case, the invoice is sent to the minor.
If the minor’s invoice is sent to an insurance agency, the guardian will be informed of the use of the insurance if they are the policyholder.
